Search Gove Civil Dockets

Start a Gove County civil docket search online, by party name, business, or case number. The result is only the first step. Behind every docket line sits a court file, and the district clerk holds it, along with copies and courthouse access. Civil matters in Gove County cover a lot of ground: limited actions, domestic cases, probate, and small claims all run through the same clerk. Their online visibility can differ, though. So use the docket to track your own case, confirm a hearing date, or spot the filing you need. Then ask the clerk for the signed paper itself.

Gove Civil Docket Family Codes

Those letters route you to the right civil track. A sanitized limited-action number looks like GO-2026-LM-000001. Regular civil matters use CV, while probate and domestic files carry their own families. Treat the letters as an index key only, not a ruling on the dispute or the public status of every document.

Quick answer: Start with CV or LM for ordinary civil disputes, then confirm the displayed case type rather than guessing from the caption.

Gove County has no separate county court or justice-of-the-peace civil docket. Its District Court keeps regular Chapter 60, limited Chapter 61, small-claims, domestic, probate, and post-judgment records. City municipal courts handle ordinance and traffic matters, not ordinary contract or property suits.

Inside a Gove County Civil Docket

A civil docket is a register of action. It lists the case events in order. The petition or complaint opens the file and states the claims, and service entries can show issuance, return, waiver, publication, or a failed attempt. From there come answers, motions, scheduling orders, discovery events, hearings, judgments, enforcement steps, and appeal notices. An entry only names an event. The filed paper holds its full terms.

Case numberThe GO-year-family-sequence key, including CV, LM, PR, or DM when shown.
Caption and rolesPlaintiff, defendant, petitioner, respondent, counsel, and later joined roles.
Filings and servicePetition, summons, return, answer, counterclaim, notice, or other filed event.
Motions and ordersA request and the court's ruling appear as distinct records.
Settings and resultHearing date, judge, connection method, judgment, dismissal, or later action.

For the legal result, read the signed judgment itself. A motion line does not show whether relief was granted, and a hearing row does not reveal what happened in court.

Gove Civil Daily Docket Rows

The official 23rd Judicial District Daily Docket carries a sanitized Gove limited-action setting. The header reads Gove County District Court. Its fields include the date range, a generated time, plaintiff and defendant roles, the attorney, and the district magistrate judge. A GO-year-LM number, a morning time, and “Answer Hearing” complete the setting. The connection field may be blank. It may say in person, or carry a remote note.

That row omits the pleading list, service return, judgment text, account balance, and any certified stamp. The public calendar can identify a scheduled civil event, but it does not put every paper in the case online. Use the official daily docket to confirm near-term scheduling. Then pair it with CaseSearch or the clerk's file.

Note: An Answer Hearing relates to the response stage. It is not proof that an answer or judgment was entered.

Civil Case Types on the Docket

The unified Gove County District Court civil docket holds several tracks. A regular civil case can involve contract, property, injury, or other Chapter 60 claims. Limited actions and small claims run on streamlined paths. They carry their own fee bands. Domestic and probate work sits there too, though public internet access for those cases may be far narrower.

  • Regular civil cases filed under the Chapter 60 category.
  • Limited actions, including debt or contract matters within current filing bands.
  • Small claims, with current statewide fee bands through $4,000.
  • Domestic matters such as divorce, custody, support, and related motions.
  • Probate, guardianship, conservatorship, estates, and related proceedings.

The current fee chart uses limited-action claim bands through $25,000. A fee row is not legal advice on venue for every claim. Confirm the proper case type and filing step with the clerk or a qualified lawyer.

Gove Civil Docket Filing Bands

The current Kansas chart, Administrative Order 2025-FN-085, runs from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2027. These amounts cover filing fees and surcharges, not copies of a Gove County civil docket. They also help explain why CV, LM, small-claims, and post-decree matters appear as separate routes.

MatterCourt feeSurchargeTotal
Chapter 60 civil or domestic$173.00$22.00$195.00
Post-decree motion$40.00$22.00$62.00
Limited action up to $500$35.00$19.00$54.00
Small claim up to $500$35.00$19.00$54.00
Small claim over $500 through $4,000$55.00$19.00$74.00

Other limited-action bands carry their own totals. Check the official current Kansas fee order, confirm the amount with the Gove clerk before filing, and ask separately about copy or certification cost.

Civil Docket Settings and Hearings

A civil setting on the Gove County docket might be an answer hearing, a case-management conference, a motion hearing, a pretrial conference, a bench trial, a jury trial, a probate hearing, or something else the court has scheduled. Read each entry for four things: the date, the time, the judicial officer, and any connection note. A setting only tells you what is due to happen. It never tells you who won.

Scheduling orders work differently. They set deadlines instead, covering discovery, motions, mediation, exhibits, or trial preparation. A continuance moves an event; a reset adds a replacement setting. Earlier rows normally stay in the register even after a change. To confirm the current entry, check CaseSearch, the statewide seven-day hearing calendar, or the district daily docket. Calling the clerk works too. The public calendar is a schedule only. It is not the full Gove County civil docket.

Local rules govern continuance requests and other scheduling steps. An informal request or a stale calendar row is not permission to miss court. A setting can conflict with an order. The clerk can confirm the current docket entry, but only the judge or an authorized court process can actually change the setting.

All Gove Civil Docket Channels

CaseSearch returns public headers, roles, events, settings, and eligible documents. A courthouse terminal may reach broader public Gove civil data than the internet. The clerk counter handles inspection and plain copies. Certified copies are available there too, along with help locating a judgment or order. The Gove County District Court sits at 420 Broad Street, PO Box 97, Gove, KS 67736. Its phone is 785-938-2310.

Mail, email, and fax all work for asking instructions or making a specific record request. The public clerk email is Gove_County_Clerk@kscourts.gov. A Kansas Open Records Act court form can identify a public document that is not online. Kansas rules do not promise custom bulk compilations. The daily docket supplies setting data. The official small-claims booklet walks through filing and service and notes that the clerk sets a hearing once those steps are done.

Two other offices come up often in searches. The Register of Deeds holds deeds and real-property instruments, not the civil lawsuit docket. The county administrative Clerk sits at 520 Washington Street. That office handles elections and county administration, not District Court case files. Knowing these office lines keeps a court docket request from landing with the wrong office.

Civil Docket Access Rules

Many Gove County civil docket entries are public. Remote access still has firm limits. Probate, guardianship, conservatorship, domestic, protection, adoption, and care-and-treatment records may be excluded or partly hidden. A case can be visible while a confidential attachment or protected identifier stays closed. The courthouse terminal may expose more public material than the internet. It does not open sealed information.

Kansas access framework:

Supreme Court Rule 22 identifies portal and terminal access and excluded categories.

Supreme Court Rule 106B defines electronic records and the register of action while limiting bulk access.

Supreme Court Rule 24 requires protected personal identifiers to be redacted from filings.

A missing PDF does not mean the whole case is sealed. Ask the clerk two things: whether the document is available at the terminal or counter, and what proof of authority a restricted access request requires.

Gove Civil Docket Outcome Terms

Always read outcome terms alongside the signed order. A judgment can be final or partial. Default judgment follows a failure to respond or appear under the applicable process. An agreed judgment records a resolution reached by agreement, while dismissal may end a claim or case subject to conditions or a bar on refiling stated in the order. "Pending" is not a decision on the merits.

Case-management conference
A setting for scheduling, discovery, and trial readiness.
Summary judgment
A request or ruling to resolve all or part of a matter without a fact trial.
Garnishment
A post-judgment process directed to a third party or property for collection.
Satisfaction
An entry that a judgment or obligation has been paid or released.
Appeal and remand
Review in an appellate court and a later return to the district court.

For proof of the result, request the signed judgment or a certified copy from Janna Cook, Clerk of the District Court I. The docket line is a useful index. The document behind it states the enforceable terms, so order that too. Older files may also require an archive check.
